MISSION STATEMENT: The Commonweal Foundation supports educational programs and projects assisting disadvantaged youth. The Foundation focuses on secondary and, to a lesser extent, elementary education. The Foundation also considers grants for educational research and, to a limited extent, health care.

Pathways to Success

The Pathways to Success Boarding & Day School Scholarship Program is an outgrowth of the commitment of several "I Have a Dream" sponsors to provide quality educational opportunities for needy students, Pathways to Success was created in 1994. Pathways awards scholarships to students in the ninth through twelfth grades, demonstrate financial need, and show a strong desire to improve the quality of their education.

PARTNERS IN LEARNING
In an effort to address inadequate literacy skills among children living in poverty, Commonweal inaugurated its newest program, Partners in Learning. Partners provides supplemental reading and writing instruction to children who attend after-school and summer community programs in high-risk Maryland neighborhoods. GRANTS
Through its Community Assistance Grants, the Foundation supports a variety of social service endeavors, including after-school tutoring for at-risk youth, mentoring and enrichment programs, youth entrepreneurship and programs that encourage students to finish high school and to apply for college.  For more information please contact Rozita Green at (240) 450-0000.

LEARNING DISABILITIES SUPPORT PROGRAM
The Learning Disabilities Support Program provides special educational services for students whose families cannot afford them or cannot obtain them in the public schools.
